We will begin the year with a 12-week study of 1 and 2 Peter: Inthesetwoletters,theapostlePeterofferedencouragementtofollowersofChristwho werelivingasexilesandbeingpersecutedfortheirfaith. Thesebooksexhortbelievers tohopeandgodlyliving. Theyteachaboutgodlyrelationshipsandwarnaboutfalse teachers. TheypointtoJesusasourexampleinsufferingandfaith andremindusthat truesecuritycanbefoundonlyinGod.
Then a 6-week study of Joshua: ThebookofJoshuapicksupwhereDeuteronomyleavesoff. AfterleadingtheIsraelites out of Egypt and through 40 years of wanderings in the wilderness, Moses died. But God remained faithful to His promise. He appointed Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, where they would at last find rest in a place of theirown.
Followed by a 6-week study of James: The epistle James is one of the most practical books in the Bible. This course’s lessons encourage each class member to lead a more consistent, caring Christian life and to explore the practical application of faith in family and society.
Ending with a 6-week study of Colossians: Colossians is a letter written to combat error in the church. Paul pointed the believers at Colossae to Jesus as the Head of His body, the church. Paul also told the Colossian believers that they had fullness in Christ. The questions in this course are thought provoking and challenging.
